Giardini Naxos Wheelchair Accessible Tours
Giardini Naxos accessible tours, is a splendid tourist resort in the province of Messina, in Sicily.
The municipality is located in a mainly flat area and a short distance from another famous seaside resort in the region, the splendid Taormina.
Until the 1970s it was a quiet fishing village.
Today it attracts many visitors, first of all thanks to its sea.
It rises, in fact, in a small bay, protected by hills that descend towards the crystalline sea.
735 BC is the beginning of the Greek colonization in Italy is traced back to this date.
A group of settlers from Chalcis, in Euboea, landed in Sicily and under the guidance of their leader Theocles founded some important cities including Naxos.
Believed to be the first Greek colony in Italy and cradle of the ancient Mediterranean civilizations.
Even today the signs of this glorious past are clearly visible in the Archaeological Park, which extends for 40 hectares between Capo Taormina and Capo Schiso.
