Disabled people can easily and immediately reach the various areas of the Basilica using the new entrance that opens onto St Peter's Square, to the right of those looking at the Basilica.
At this point an elevator was built, which goes from the level of the square to that of the atrium of the sacred temple.
There are a First Aid point and equipped toilets.
The main aisles of the Basilica are accessible as well as the Treasury and the terrace of the Dome by lift.
The Dome is inaccessible to wheelchairs.
On the left side of the colonnade there is another First Aid point.
The area close to the St Peter's Church, from Via della Conciliazione to the entire Borgo Santo Spirito district, to Piazza della Città Leonina and, through Via di Porta Angelica, to Piazza del Risorgimento, is accessible to disabled people for the presence of flat paths and suitable slides connecting the pavements to the road level.
It should be noted, however, the presence on many pedestrian paths of paving with cobblestones, which can create some discomfort for people with walking difficulties.
There is a path with facilities for the visually impaired in the Borgo Santo Spirito area and Via della Conciliazione.
This route continues through the pedestrian area between Castel Sant'Angelo and the bank of the Tiber River in its entire length.
Acoustic traffic lights facilitate pedestrian crossings in Borgo Santo Spirito, Via della Conciliazione and Piazza Pia.

In Piazza Pia, at the entrance to the gardens of Castel Sant'Angelo there is an accessible tourist information point.
The accessible post office is located in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 330, at the corner of Piazza P. Paoli.
The Vatican Museums are accessible with a guide with the possibility of tactile visits for the blind.
The public telephone station with acoustic coupling device ( DTS ) closest to the Basilica area is located at the entrance of the VI floor of the National Deaf and Deaf Organization in Via Gregorio VII 120.
