Touring Lecco
As in Lugano, the lakefront is certainly a strong point that gives it a particular charm.
Less famous than the more popular Como, it has an intimate center that can be easily crossed on foot.
The lakefront of Lecco goes from St Stefano to the war memorial, following the coast for several kilometers.
The landscape opens up to different views of the lake and the mountains, passing through the marina, the statue of St Nicolo’ and areas equipped with playgrounds, bars and squares shaded by well-tended trees and flower beds.
It is a very popular walk on weekends and in the summer.
Returning towards the center in Piazza XX Settembre you can see the Visconti Tower of XIV century origin.
Closed between the houses it does not appear in the right size, today it is the seat of temporary exhibitions, but it was once part of the Visconti Castle and was surrounded by defensive walls.
