Hermitage of SS Salvatore Wheelchair Accessible Tours
The Hermitage of SS Salvatore wheelchair accessible tours, was founded in 1585 at the behest of Giovanni D’Avalos, son of Alfonso d’Aragona, and later named after the Holy Redeemer.
The complex was designed by Domenico Fontana reflecting the canons of the XVI century architecture of the late Campania Renaissance.
It is a magnificent monumental complex of great historical value, which represents one of the most enchanting viewpoints of the city of Naples.
The large complex is accessed by a door with a large arch where there is the coat of arms of the Camaldolese.
From there you go up to the church, built on the ruins of the ancient chapel.
Next to the church there is the large bell tower and a viewpoint divided into two areas.
One for the monks and the other for visitors.
Before the viewpoint you enter the central monastic complex.

The church is currently known as the Hermitage of the SS Salvatore.
The Hermitage was for four centuries the residence of hermit monks who led a solitary life to rediscover a sacred spirituality.
Even today, this place retains this mystical aspect that impresses visitors.
You can participate in Eucharistic moments and spiritual recollection with the Brigidine nuns who manage the property.
Since 1998, after being renovated and refurbished, it has been inhabited by the Brigidine nuns of the order of the SS Salvatore di St Brigida, founded by St Brigida of Sweden.
In the church of the Hermitage there are works by some important representatives of Neapolitan painting of about two centuries. Exclusive terrace with the most beautiful view of Naples and its gulf is formidable
